A musical theatre nerd, turned comedy nerd, turned musical comedy nerd walks into THE BLACK BOX and gets free reign to create a show... BLACK BOX Cabaret presents I Only Wanna Laugh, an evening of musical shenanigans with Ali Funkhouser, the ACME Rhythm Section, and violinist Irina Fainkichen.

Ali Funkhouser is a NYC-based actor, singer, and comedian. She graduated in tempore* from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre. Her credits include the national tours of Evita (dir. Hal Prince) and Joseph…Dreamcoat, Legally Blonde (Margot, u/s Elle Woods) at The LEX directed by Laura Bell Bundy, Puccini’s Suor Angelica (La Novizia) with Chelsea Opera NYC, Hairspray (Penny), Company (April), and How to Succeed…(Smitty). With Franklin Performing Arts Company, Ali was recently seen as Katherine in Disney’s Newsies opposite Broadway’s Christopher Rice (choreo. Chaz Wolcott). Her other FPAC credits include Joseph…Dreamcoat (Narrator), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey), and The Sound of Music (Liesl). Ali studies improv comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade and voice with Sara Jean Ford.
